Ascend ("Ascend," "we," "us," or "our") respects your privacy and is committed to protecting the information you provide when you use the Ascend website, web application, mobile application, and related services (collectively, the "Service").

This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, how we share and protect it, and the choices and rights available to you.

CAPTCHA tokens are single use and are marked as consumed once a submission is accepted.

Please do not include passwords, authentication codes, API keys, payment card numbers, or other sensitive credentials in a contact message.

Unless explicitly stated in the Service, Ascend does not connect directly to your brokerage account or execute trades on your behalf.

You should not enter brokerage passwords, API keys, authentication codes, or other credentials into Ascend unless a specific Ascend feature expressly requests and supports them.

5. Imported Files and Data

Ascend may allow you to import trading information using files such as CSV or Excel spreadsheets.

If you use an import feature, we may process the information contained in the file, which may include:

  • Trade history
  • Account information

  • Instruments
  • Prices
  • Position sizes
  • Profit and loss

7. Expenses and Financial Tracking Information

Ascend allows users to track expenses and trading-related financial activity.

Depending on the features you use, we may collect:

  • Expense amount
  • Expense date
  • Expense category
  • Expense description
  • Funding amounts
  • Withdrawals
  • Investment amounts
  • Account-related financial information
  • Funding status
  • Other financial information you voluntarily enter

Ascend is a tracking and journaling application. It is not a bank, brokerage, financial institution, or financial adviser.

Unless explicitly stated otherwise, Ascend does not collect or require your bank account login credentials, brokerage login credentials, credit card numbers, debit card numbers, or banking passwords to use the Service.

7.1 Subscriptions and Payment Processing

Ascend offers optional paid subscriptions and one-time purchases (Premium).

We do not receive or store your full payment card number. Payment details are entered directly with our payment providers, not with Ascend.

Depending on where you purchase:

  • Web purchases are processed by Stripe. Stripe handles your payment method and billing details. We receive limited information needed to confirm your purchase and grant access, such as a customer identifier, the plan purchased, subscription status, and the associated email address used for the purchase.
  • In-app purchases on Apple devices are processed by Apple through the App Store. We use RevenueCat to verify and manage entitlements tied to those purchases. We receive limited information such as an app user identifier, the product purchased, and entitlement status. Apple's own privacy policy governs the payment information you provide to Apple.

Entitlement to Premium is verified on our servers against these providers. When you manage or cancel a subscription, you may be directed to Stripe's billing portal or to your Apple account subscription settings. Cancellation and refund handling are described in our Refund Policy.

8. Friends, Social Features, and Shared Profiles

Ascend includes social features that allow users to find and connect with other users.

If you use these features, we may collect and process:

  • Your username
  • Friend relationships
  • Friend requests
  • Friendship status
  • Profile information
  • Shared profile information
  • Information associated with your interactions with other users

Your username may be searchable by other Ascend users.

Friend Search and Invitations

Friend search is handled on our servers. When you search for a username, our server matches it against profiles that have chosen to be searchable and returns only a limited set of public profile fields: your username, display name, profile picture, biography, and Ascension Score.

Search results never include another user's email address or account identifier. Your email address is not searchable, is not returned in search results, and is not displayed on your profile.

Profiles can opt out of being found through search. Opted-out profiles are not discoverable through the search feature, and search queries are length-limited and rate-limited to prevent bulk enumeration of users.

Friend invitations are tied to the profile you find through search and are processed on our servers. Server-side identity checks confirm who sent an invitation and who may accept it, so an invitation cannot be forged or redirected to another account. When an invitation is accepted, limited profile information (such as display name, username, profile picture, biography, and Ascension Score) becomes visible to the other person as part of the friendship.

When you intentionally share your Ascend profile, information displayed on the shared profile card may be visible to anyone who receives or views that shared profile.

You should review the information displayed on a profile before sharing it.

9. AI Coach Information

Ascend includes AI-powered features, including the Ascend AI Coach.

When you use the AI Coach, information from your Ascend account may be processed to provide personalized insights and responses.

Depending on the feature you use, this may include:

  • Trading journal information
  • Trading performance
  • Account performance
  • Habits
  • Goals
  • Expenses
  • Trading statistics
  • Previous AI-generated insights
  • Questions and messages you send to the AI Coach
  • Other information necessary to respond to your request

The AI Coach may use information from your account and previously generated insights to provide contextually relevant responses.

For example, if you ask the AI Coach why your recent trading performance has changed, the Service may use relevant trading and performance information stored in your account to answer your question.

AI Processing

AI-generated responses are provided for informational and educational purposes.

Ascend does not guarantee that AI-generated information is accurate, complete, or suitable for your individual circumstances.

You should independently evaluate AI-generated information before relying on it.

Ascend is not a financial adviser, and the AI Coach does not provide personalized investment, legal, tax, or financial advice.

AI Service and Provider

The AI Coach uses one AI provider: Anthropic Claude. Every AI Coach request — insights, weekly reviews, and follow-up answers — is processed by an Anthropic Claude model.

Ascend does not call Anthropic directly and does not hold Anthropic API keys. Requests are delivered through Base44's built-in AI service ("InvokeLLM"), a Base44-managed integration. Base44 is the AI application platform that hosts Ascend.

No other AI provider receives AI Coach information, and the model used does not vary from request to request.

When you use the AI Coach, the categories of information listed above may be transmitted to Anthropic Claude through this Base44-managed AI service, in order to generate your response. The specific information shared depends on the feature you use and the request you make.

For information about how Base44 processes data on its platform and its own subprocessors, please review Base44's privacy documentation and Trust Center.

Your AI Coach Consent

The AI Coach requires your consent before it processes your information.

The first time you try to generate an AI insight or send a follow-up message, Ascend displays a disclosure describing the AI service, the categories of information transmitted, and the purpose of that processing. The AI Coach will not run until you affirmatively agree.

Your consent is not implied by opening the AI Coach screen, by continuing to use Ascend, or by accepting our Terms of Service.

When you consent, we record the date and time of your consent together with the version of the disclosure you agreed to. If we make a material change to the disclosure, we will ask for your consent again before the AI Coach processes any further information.

Withdrawing Your AI Coach Consent

You can withdraw your AI Coach consent at any time in Settings → AI Coach consent.

Withdrawing your consent immediately stops the AI Coach from generating insights and from answering follow-up messages, and Ascend will not send any further information to the AI service. You can grant consent again at any time, and a new consent record will be created.

Withdrawing your consent does not delete insights that were already generated and saved in your journal.

10. Automatically Collected Information

When you access Ascend, certain information may be automatically collected for purposes such as security, authentication, functionality, diagnostics, and improving the Service.

Depending on the technology used to operate the Service, this information may include:

We do not sell your personal information for monetary consideration.

We may share information in the following circumstances.

Service Providers

We may share information with vendors and service providers that help us operate Ascend, such as providers supporting:

  • Hosting
  • Authentication
  • Database infrastructure
  • Email delivery

  • Security
  • Analytics
  • Customer support
  • Application infrastructure
  • Other services necessary to operate Ascend

These providers may process information only as necessary to provide their services to us, subject to applicable agreements and legal requirements.

Ascend does not call Anthropic directly and does not hold Anthropic API keys. AI features are provided through Base44's built-in AI service, which is part of the Base44 platform that hosts Ascend, and every AI Coach request is processed by Anthropic Claude as described in Section 9. No other AI provider receives your AI Coach information.

Payments are processed by Stripe for web purchases and by Apple through the App Store for in-app purchases, with RevenueCat used to verify entitlements, as described in Section 7.1.

If you choose to connect your Discord account, we use Discord's authorization service to confirm your Discord identity and to assign community roles.

Ascend is currently hosted using Base44 infrastructure. Base44 states that its platform provides security controls including encryption and access controls, and that its platform is SOC 2 Type II certified and ISO 27001 certified. Base44 also states that its servers are currently located in the United States by default.

Ascend remains responsible for configuring its application-level permissions and data-access rules appropriately.

Legal Requirements

We may disclose information when reasonably necessary to:

  • Comply with applicable law
  • Respond to valid legal processes
  • Respond to governmental requests
  • Protect the rights, safety, and property of Ascend, our users, or others
  • Investigate fraud, abuse, or security incidents
  • Enforce our Terms of Service or other agreements

Business Transfers

If Ascend is involved in a merger, acquisition, financing, reorganization, sale of assets, bankruptcy, or similar transaction, personal information may be transferred as part of that transaction, subject to applicable law.

With Your Direction or Consent

We may share information when you specifically request or authorize us to do so.

For example, when you intentionally share your Ascend profile with another person, the information displayed through that sharing feature may be provided to that person.

14. Information We Do Not Sell

Ascend does not sell your personal information as a product.

We do not sell your:

  • Trading history
  • Trading performance
  • Habits
  • Goals
  • Expenses
  • Account information
  • AI Coach conversations
  • Profile information
  • Friend information

to advertisers or data brokers for their independent marketing purposes.

If our business model or data-sharing practices materially change in the future, we will update this Privacy Policy and provide any notices required by applicable law.

15. Your Trading Data Belongs to You

Your trading journal, account information, habits, goals, expenses, and other information that you enter into Ascend are your information.

We do not claim ownership of the underlying personal or trading information you submit to Ascend.

We use that information only as necessary to provide, maintain, secure, and improve the Service, subject to this Privacy Policy and our Terms of Service.

We may create aggregated or de-identified information from Service usage that cannot reasonably be used to identify you. We may use such aggregated or de-identified information for purposes including analytics, research, product development, and improving Ascend.

16. Data Security

We take reasonable technical, administrative, and organizational measures designed to protect personal information against unauthorized access, alteration, disclosure, loss, or destruction.

These measures may include:

  • Authentication controls
  • Access controls
  • Encryption and secure transmission technologies
  • Application-level permissions
  • Data access restrictions
  • Secure credential handling
  • Security monitoring
  • Platform-level security controls
  • Regular review of application security settings

Base44 states that it provides platform-level security features including encryption, secure user management, SOC 2 Type II certification, and ISO 27001 certification.

However, no system for transmitting or storing information over the Internet can be guaranteed to be completely secure.

You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your account credentials and should immediately notify us if you believe your account has been accessed without authorization.

17. Data Access Permissions

Ascend uses application-level permissions intended to ensure that users can access only information they are authorized to access.

For example, your private trading journal, expenses, goals, habits, and account records should not be accessible to another ordinary Ascend user unless a feature specifically allows information to be shared.

Certain information is intentionally made available through social features, such as usernames and profile information that you choose to display or share.

Ascend's underlying Base44 infrastructure provides data-permission controls and row-level access controls. Base44 specifically states that application owners are responsible for configuring their app's security settings and permissions appropriately.

We regularly review these settings as the Service develops.

18. Data Retention

We retain your information for as long as reasonably necessary to:

  • Provide the Service
  • Maintain your account
  • Provide requested features
  • Comply with legal obligations
  • Resolve disputes
  • Enforce agreements
  • Prevent fraud or abuse
  • Maintain security
  • Protect legitimate business interests

When you delete your account, we will initiate deletion of information associated with your account, subject to applicable legal, security, backup, and operational requirements.

Certain information may remain temporarily in backups, logs, or records where immediate deletion is technically impractical or where retention is legally required.

We may also retain limited information where necessary to prevent fraud, enforce our agreements, or comply with legal obligations.

19. Account Deletion

You may request deletion of your Ascend account.

Where account deletion functionality is available within Ascend, you may initiate deletion directly through the application.

Account deletion is intended to remove your account and associated personal information from the active Ascend application.

Because certain data may exist in backups, logs, security records, or other systems, deletion may not result in immediate and simultaneous removal from every technical system.

Base44 provides application owners with functionality for deleting user data and managing user records.

If you are unable to delete your account through the application, contact us using the privacy contact information provided in this Privacy Policy.

20. Your Privacy Rights

Depending on where you live, you may have rights regarding your personal information.

These rights may include:

  • Right to know what personal information we collect
  • Right to access your personal information
  • Right to request correction of inaccurate information
  • Right to request deletion of personal information
  • Right to request a copy of your information
  • Right to object to certain processing
  • Right to restrict certain processing
  • Right to withdraw consent where processing is based on consent
  • Right to opt out of certain marketing communications
  • Right to data portability
  • Right to lodge a complaint with a relevant data-protection authority

You can withdraw your AI Coach consent at any time in Settings → AI Coach consent, without contacting us.

The availability and scope of these rights depends on applicable law.

To exercise a privacy right, contact us at:

AscendJournalApp@gmail.com

We may need to verify your identity before completing certain requests to protect your account and information.

We will not discriminate against you for exercising privacy rights available to you under applicable law.

21. California Privacy Rights

If you are a California resident, California privacy laws may provide you with additional rights regarding your personal information.

Depending on applicable law, these rights may include the ability to:

  • Know what categories of personal information we collect
  • Request access to specific pieces of personal information
  • Request deletion of personal information
  • Request correction of inaccurate personal information
  • Obtain information about how personal information is collected, used, and disclosed
  • Opt out of certain types of processing where applicable
  • Limit certain uses of sensitive personal information where applicable
  • Exercise applicable rights without unlawful discrimination

Ascend does not sell personal information as defined under applicable California privacy law.

To submit a California privacy request, contact:

AscendJournalApp@gmail.com

We may verify your identity before fulfilling your request.

22. European Economic Area, United Kingdom, and Other International Users

If you are located in the European Economic Area, United Kingdom, or another jurisdiction with applicable data-protection laws, we may process your personal information based on one or more lawful bases, including:

  • Performance of a contract
  • Compliance with legal obligations
  • Legitimate interests
  • Consent
  • Protection of vital interests where applicable

Examples of legitimate interests may include securing the Service, preventing abuse, maintaining functionality, improving the Service, and responding to support requests.

Where required, we will obtain consent before processing information for purposes requiring consent.

You may have rights under applicable data-protection laws, including rights of access, correction, deletion, restriction, objection, portability, and withdrawal of consent.

If you believe your privacy rights have been violated, you may also have the right to contact your local data-protection authority.

23. International Data Transfers

Ascend may process and store information in countries other than the country where you live.

Ascend currently uses Base44 infrastructure. Base44 states that its servers are currently located in the United States by default.

If your information is transferred internationally, we will use appropriate safeguards where required by applicable law.

24. Children's Privacy

Ascend is not directed toward children under the age of 13.

We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.

If you are under the minimum age required to use Ascend in your jurisdiction, you should not create an account or use the Service without appropriate parental or guardian involvement where legally required.

If we learn that we have collected personal information from a child under 13 without appropriate authorization, we will take reasonable steps to delete that information.

If you believe a child has provided personal information to Ascend, contact us at:

AscendJournalApp@gmail.com

25. Third-Party Services and Links

Ascend may contain links to third-party websites, applications, communities, social-media platforms, or other services.

Examples may include:

  • Discord
  • X
  • YouTube
  • Apple services
  • Other websites or services linked from Ascend

When you leave Ascend and use a third-party service, that service's privacy policy and terms apply.

Ascend is not responsible for the privacy practices, security, or content of third-party services.

Connecting a Discord Account

Connecting Discord is optional. If you choose to connect, you are sent to Discord to authorize the connection, and Discord confirms your Discord identity to us. We then store your Discord user ID and Discord username on your Ascend account, along with whether the Beta or Premium role was applied to that Discord account.

We use this information only to link your Discord membership to your Ascend account and to assign the appropriate community roles. We do not receive your Discord password or your Discord messages. You can ask us to unlink your Discord account using the contact details in this Privacy Policy.

You should review the privacy policies of third-party services before providing them with personal information.

26. Notifications

If you enable notifications, Ascend may process notification preferences and relevant account information necessary to provide notifications.

These may include:

  • Daily habit reminders
  • Streak notifications
  • Other notifications you explicitly enable

You can manage available notification settings within Ascend or through your device settings.

27. Do Not Track

Some browsers offer a "Do Not Track" setting.

Because there is currently no universally accepted standard for responding to Do Not Track signals, Ascend may not respond to such signals in all circumstances.

We will comply with legally required opt-out preference signals where applicable.

28. Changes to This Privacy Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time.

When we make changes, we will update the "Last Updated" date at the top of this policy.

If we make material changes, we may provide additional notice through Ascend, by email, or through another appropriate method where required by law.

Your continued use of Ascend after an updated Privacy Policy becomes effective means that you acknowledge the updated policy.

29. Contact Us

If you have questions, concerns, or requests regarding this Privacy Policy or your personal information, contact us at:

Ascend Privacy

Email: AscendJournalApp@gmail.com

Support: AscendJournalApp@gmail.com
